Hello Loopy Friends!

We had so much fun on Local Yarn Shop Day! I need remember for next time to have Bob or one of the kids around just to take pictures, because I sure as heck didn't get any  😬. Not One. . .  BUT, thank you all for stopping in to show us your love and support. We couldn't be here without you, and we appreciate you all so much! I took this photo of the drawing Roz and Ary did on Saturday during LYS day. The bikini is an interesting look on Loopy, don't you think? 🤣

Congrats to Esther, Micki, Raenette and Frank for winning door prizes. We missed drawing for one prize, so I'll be doing that later today and letting you know if your name comes up! Winners have been or will soon be contacted.

I mentioned at Sit & Knit last Wednesday that our Irises are already blooming - and I have some photos to prove it below. They'll be bloomed out before I know it! We seem to be heavy on the purples - maybe time to find some yellow to add in the mix!

Oh, and we have a fun new video on our home page (or it can be seen on our YouTube channel HERE.).  Check it out!

What's New at The Loopy Ewe?

Feza Yarn Alp Natural

Those of you who've been around for awhile know that we don't usually carry much novelty yarn, but, that is where you would probably categorize this one. Feza's Alp Natural has beautifully varied texture and structure. Within each skein there are multiple types of yarn that have been hand-tied to give the texture variation. There are areas of thick and thin, some chainette, some single ply, different colors - a lot of variety going on in each skein. This yarn can range in width from Fingering to Worsted. So. . . If you are up for something beautifully fun, this is for you. If you value consistency, maybe opt for another of our beautiful yarn offerings! That said, this one is a fantastic mix of Cotton (40%), Silk (10%), Linen (20%) and Viscose (30%). It feels delightful, and will make great summer tops and more! I'm eyeing the Plain Yoke Tee 22 by LE KNIT by Lene Holme Sansoe, or the Bram Top by Ellen Furderer.

Urth Yarns New Bonmoher Colors

Those of you who love a good silk mohair, are going to love the new colors that Urth Yarns has come out with in their Bonmoher. This line has historically been mainly solids, but now there are some gorgeous variegated yarns!  We love them paired with other yarns to give a nice soft halo, on their own for gauzy light creations OR held double for light, yet soft and warm items. Scrumptious in every variation!

Gemischt Fibers Stitch Markers

Gemischt Fibers is the fiber baby of Faith Shilha, who used to work here with us at The Loopy Ewe. She's moved to Alaska and is making wonderfully colorful yarn and stitch markers there!  Choose from lovely stone or fun disco ball styles. She graciously sent some our way, and I love them!

Twice Sheared Sheep Gadgets

We brought in TSS's Yarn Gators, Eye Grip Amigurumi Safety Eye Tools and their Quick Gauge Ruler with White print for better visualization on dark yarn! We also Restocked Cat Clips, if you've been waiting!

The Yarn Gator is the perfect tool if you find yourself managing multiple yarn strands. It keeps them untangled and ready to go! The genius here is that the clip opens up (reminiscent of an 80s banana clip) to let you release the yarn if you need/want to! The tool has clips that can grab onto virtually any project bag.

The Eye Grip tool is perfect for all of you making tiny friends and stuffies out there. It comes with a few sets of eyes, but it's great for providing the leverage you need to get your safety eyes really attached well - even in small projects!

On Our Needles

There is a special joy when someone finishes a project you have a shared experience with (thank you knit alongs!). I was so happy to see Dawn's Stash Buster sweater. I believe she held together a strand of Hue Loco Super Sock XL with a yarn from her stash. She finished and wore it in to share with us. It's gorgeous!!! I'm so lucky I got to see it's progress along the way.  Love, love love!!!

Anatolia also brought in a gorgeous crocheted cardigan. Clever crafter that she is, she used the spider lace motif and created her own fantastic garment. She used the amazing new CamaRose Okologisk Pimabomuld that we got in a few weeks back (she's fast, right?!?).  I love it!

On My Needles

I focused almost all my energy on the Orienta Shawl by Cory Boberg, hoping I would get it done by the end of the month when the Malabrigo knit along wraps up.  I am SO CLOSE.  I have about 12 rows on the straight section, then to pick up stitches and bind off the end (and weave in ends, of course). Malabrigo Sock is lovely.

My Astrid summer sweater (MIP46-Astrid by Quail Studio on Ravelry) using Mode at Rowan's Cotton DK took a pause, but I'll get right back on it after my shawl is done.

Oh, and I DID make a very long icord for my No Sweat Shirt that I made awhile back but never put a hoodie string in. . .  That project is now officially finished, and I can absolutely recommend the Twice Sheared Sheep Cord Quill tool for making longer icords!  It went surprisingly quickly. You'll be super surprised that I don't have a picture 😳.

Have an excellent and creative week!
