Hello Loopy Friends!

Is knitting/crocheting through the summer months a thing you do? I am a definitive YES on that account, but I know not everyone is. Some people find it too hot or get too busy with other hobbies or travel plans. I get it. Who wants to be knitting a heavy blanket when it's 90 degrees, keep track of yarn and notions while on the road or miss out on gardening, hikes and other fun diversions? Well, I guess I do, but maybe I'm an oddball. OR maybe it's not that hard to sneak some knitting in no matter what the summer brings. I do often choose smaller projects (think socks, hats, mittens, etc) or more summery fibers (think cotton, linen or blends) when I'm knitting away from home or knitting outside. Oh, and, ahem, if, by chance your sit and knit/crochet area is freezing, maybe you DO want to knit a blanket when you are there 🤣.

Roz had her spring SOR performance last Friday. She did GREAT. Guitar - check, bass guitar - check, vocals - check. My kids constantly amaze me. So proud.

And finally, we are fostering new puppies. We've only had them about 3 days, and they are so cute!  Three tiny-but-feisty 4-week old boys this time around.

What's New at The Loopy Ewe?

Loveful BioBlend

Sirdar Loveful Bio Blend is the first craft knitting& crochet yarn to feature award-winning CiCLO® technology. CiCLO was designed to reduce the environmental impact of microplastic pollution. The process allows this yarn's synthetic fibers to mimic the natural wool in this blend, so it breaks down along with the wool, reducing the length of time microfibers persist in the environment.  It feels really soft and it currently comes in 12 shades. We thought we'd give it a try! While I always prefer 100% wool, there are times when you need something washable and non-wool.

Lemonwood - The Whirl

We have more of LemonWood's The Whirl - a few new Acrylics! These small spinners pair with the Mini Minders to make your wrist yarn ball holder a table top friendly yarn caddy. Honestly? I use the base with the Minder more often than I use it without.  We have some fun new Mini Minders that will be in the shop soon as well!

Loopy Garden Camp

Did you cast on yesterday? If not, get yourself started!  I haven't cast on officially, but I swatched, and I'm geared up to go today! If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out what Loopy Garden Camp is all about! We'll have fun challenges in June, July & August. Details on this year's Camp are on our Blog.

As for camp merch? We still have Loopy Garden Camp Stickers available. There are only a few of the Necessary Pancakes Camp Loopy Project Bags. We love them! I think we only have blue socks left, but Loopy looks good in any color in my opinion.

On My Needles

I finished knitting my Bram-Top by Ellen Ferderer using Feza Alp Natural. It's blocking now and I just need to select buttons. The pattern suggests afterthought buttons, but I think I'll just sew the front together as a vest rather than have it actually open. I would have been done a few hours sooner over the weekend, but the end to this project was not terribly smooth. First, I knit 4 extra inches on the back that I had to frog back (I'm not sure how I read the pattern that wrong). Then, I seamed the shoulders together wrong (front shoulders together and back shoulders together don't work well), so I had to undo the shoulder graft. The bright side? After all that, weaving in the ends didn't seem so terrible 🤣. If you are curious about this yarn, Kim and I made a video discussing it and our projects (hers crochet and mine knit). You can check it out HERE on our YouTube channel!

It was kick off day for Loopy Garden Camp yesterday, and I didn't really cast on per se, but I did make a <<gasp>> swatch. I'll be making the Boho Flower Top by Yeon Hwa Lee.  I love the look of this - I hope I can finish it!  I'm testing out the CaMaRose Lovetand on this one.  My swatch seems a little stiff, but I didn't actually wash it, I just wet it and laid it flat to dry, so I'm hopeful it will feel softer when it's washed and get softer with use as everyone says it should!

Have an excellent and creative week!
