It was certainly a full week, including the 4th of July on Saturday. Happy 250th! It has been hot here. Yes, very hot. We escaped some of the heat by paddle boarding or staying inside watching movies. . . BUT we did get outdoors and just persevered through some of the heat. It was worth it. We significantly decreased the number of weeds in our back yard, and I even got to go fishing with my best boy. 🥰
The flowers 🌸 🌺 🌻 are popping at our house! If you are doing Camp Loopy, you may have received some of these seeds in your June Camp order (minus the sunflower - that is a volunteer from our bird seed). So many beauties in the yard this week. It is definitely color inspiration! I love having all the color in the yard - and it brings in birds and butterflies and bees. . . it all makes me happy.
Our puppies were all adopted on Saturday - so that was a 4th of July present for 3 very lucky families. We miss them here, but are so happy that they are now in homes.

What's New at The Loopy Ewe?

We restocked Urth Yarns in Uneek Fingering, Uneek Sock Kits, and a few colors of Harvest Fingering. Urth Yarns has some of the most beautiful colors! I really need to get out my Kilim Shawl by Catherine Saltar Bayar and finish it. . . It's so gorgeous. I just need to finish one more stripe up the middle to join the 2 edges. . . So close, yet so far. Also great for making the Butterfly Shawl by MarinJ Knits (we've seem some stunning Butterfly Shawls). I also have been eying the Collins Tee by Laura Dobratz. There are so many fun things to make with self striping yarn. AND, the changing colors are extremely motivating to keep going until you reach the next color!

Shannon will be here 6-8 pm to go through color color theory for both knit and crochet! There is no cost, but to participate fully, please bring a US 7 knitting needle or 4.5-5.0 mm crochet hook and scissors. Yarn will be provided by Cascade for

Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl
|
SAVE THE DATE!!! The Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl runs August 1-9 this year. All shops will be open at least 10-5 EVERY DAY between August 1-9. It's about a week shorter than in past years, but you still have 2 full weekends to complete the crawl. It's HAK's Sweet 16 celebration. You won't want to miss out! There are some super 'sweet' extras, and the mini skeins this year are beautiful.
What do we have planned? - Little Squirrel Yarn Trunk Show August 1-2
- Necessary Pancakes Trunk Show August 1-2 (Bags will stay the full week but Lizz will only be there Saturday & Sunday)
- Twice Sheared Sheep Trunk Show August 1-9 (no TSS representative - purely an abundance of products, some of which we don't currently carry!)
- Door Prizes and a Grand Prize from each shop for completing the full crawl!
- We're
still pondering other fun things - but there will be snacks and community to enjoy!
Each shop has their own events, so check out the HAK Website, gather up some friends and get your road trip planned!

Dimi wore in a gorgeous sweater this week! Her Nadia by Nadia Cretin-Lechenne was made using The Plucky Knitter Tweedy Fingering. And, of course, scraps of other colors to embroider those pretty flowers on! Isn't it pretty?
Gorgeous work! Loopy Kudos!

I went a little rogue this week and took Karen't Introduction to Bead Weaving Class. It was so fun to do something new! I learned Peyote stitch, and made a cute little candle cozy. So cute! For those of you who are local, there is a second class July 13th - I hope you'll join us! I'm afraid this may have opened up a whole new world of crafting for me. So tiny, so beautiful, so satisfying!
I also cast on my July Project for Camp Loopy - Moon Moth by Natalie Meredith. I seem to keep selecting bottom up sweaters this year, but that is A-OK. I have never been super comfortable with them, so maybe this is the Universe telling me to keep plugging away there until it's second nature! I'm using The Uncommon Thread Merino DK. I LOVE it. Robin Egg Blue is one of my all time favorite colors, and The Uncommon Thread nails it every time. I've gotten a decent way into the body, and am very happy so far. I did have a moment of doubt when Karen asked me if it was top down b/c it looked so small to start. 😳 That ribbing is tricksy, but I think it's going to be just fine!
Have an excellent and creative week! Kristine and the Loopy Ewe Crew
