What's New at The Loopy Ewe?

The week has been a hot and busy one with the Hot August Knits here in the Front Range. Who knew the name of the yarn crawl would be so apt?!?! We had fun hosting Little Squirrel Yarn and Necessary Pancakes for trunk shows over the weekend - a great way to spend a few hot days inside with fun people! Thanks to all you crawlers who are braving the 3-digit temperatures to get to all the shops! Today is a bit cooler here, so that is a relief, but I'd
really love some rain!
We don't have puppies right now. Between being gone on our road trip and having the yarn crawl this week, we've been avoiding extra responsibility. Aspen and Banjo keep asking - as does Luca - when new friends might arrive. They are bored. With as many people who ask me if we have puppies in any given week, Roz suggested I start a section of the newsletter called, 'the pupdate.' π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£. Sadly, it would be empty this week
π₯Ί, but we'll have little friends again soon, I expect!
On a happier note, Bob's flower box with zinneas and cosmos is doing great - so pretty! πΈ πΊ

We restocked our Universal Yarns Bamboo Pop and Cotton Supreme and Cotton Supreme Speckles. All fabulous yarns for all the right reasons. Cotton, or cotton and bamboo blend give alternatives to animal fibers. Cool and great for summer knits. AND for small projects like potholders, dish cloths and more!

Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl
|
We had such a great first weekend of the Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl!! The crawl runs August 1-9, so you still have half the week to gather friends and hit the road for a fun bonding experience. All participating shops will be open at least 10-5 EVERY DAY through the crawl. This year is HAK's Sweet 16 celebration, and the mini skeins this year are fabulous (Thank you MakerWool!).
What do we have planned? - Necessary Pancakes Trunk Show through the week (but you missed Lizz last Sat & Sun)
- Twice Sheared Sheep Trunk Show August 1-9 (no TSS representative - purely an abundance of products, some of which we don't currently carry!)
- Door Prizes and a Grand Prize from each shop for completing the full crawl!
- Snacks and community!!
Each shop has their own events, so check out the HAK Website, gather up some friends and get your road trip planned!

It seems unfair to only showcase images of projects that come into the store physically when there are so many additional fabulous items that are coming in from Camp Loopy finishers! The trouble is, where to put them all? I'm thinking I need to compile a blog post with all the finished projects. The hard part is tying yarn and pattern to each image so that folks don't have to ask us for that information when we post them . . . It's a lot of
work!
That said, Anna brought in her July Camp finish, but is choosing to donate it to our Meals for Wheels blanket drive! Thank you Anna! It is the Butterfly Blanket by Angela Louise Wood (aka Doodlepip). Anna used Sirdar Loveful Bio Blend.
A couple weeks back, Kathy brought in her finished Stash Dive Raglan sweater (Summer Lee) from our recent knit along. Kathy used Sandness Garn Peer Gynt with her scraps to finish this beauty! I love it!

I finished July Project for Camp Loopy - Moon Moth by Natalie Meredith. I'm so happy with how it turned out. I really did have to knit a lot to get the finish in, but I made it! I used The Uncommon Thread Merino DK. It's lovely. I had been warned that, as a superwash yarn, it can grow, so I made the sleeves slightly shorter than I would want them, and sure enough, it lengthened to just about perfect with a wash!
I started my August project, The Carrot Patch Sweater by Svetlana Gibadullina. It is so cute, and I am in love. The trouble is that this one may take me more than a month. I'm using The Uncommon Thread Corriedale led together with The Uncommon Thread Divine Lace (or Urth Yarns Bonmoher for the carrots). It's so good. BUT managing 6 skeins of yarn, with 3 of them being fuzzy, is no joke. I haven't gotten terribly far yet, but I'll keep plugging away! Look at my carrots!!! ππ ππ I am in love. π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
My store sample for the mini skeins available for the Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl is not finished. I am embracing being the slacker of the crawl, but even unfinished, it represents the colors great, and will get done over the course of this week. It also makes me think it would make a great hat. I can't say enough how beautifully Dawn with MakerWool brought the sweet 16 HAK colors together. She is a true artist. The pattern I am using is The Simply Scrappy Cowl by Helen Stewart.
Have an excellent and creative week! Kristine & the Loopy Ewe Crew
