Boy-howdy what a busy week! It was a lot of fun, but I must admit I'm ready for a bit of. ... ho-hum, maybe? The Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl kept us on our toes in the store, and there were all sorts of other activities happening after hours outside of the store. . . In a normal week, the 'other' activities would have been a very manageable amount, but add in extra hours at the store, and I'm tired! A few highlights? - Bob and I took a date night to see the Jayhawks in a small Fort Collins venue. It was a great throwback to the early '90s for me.
- Roz performed with her School of Rock group at the Mishawaka. She's so talented! If you are looking for music instruction in the area, School of Rock Fort Collins AND School of Rock Loveland are fabulous. Donna is an amazing local owner!
- Bonus? I saw my first ever BEAR in Colorado while we were watching Roslyn play. It was across the river, and just rambled past. We've been here 28 years and this was the first one.
- Luca and I volunteered to pick vegetables for the Food Bank - I'm not sure what a peck of peppers looks like, but we picked that much and more, I'm pretty sure! It was a good evening. And now I need to look up what a peck is.

This is a BIG restock of Malabrigo for us. We didn't get it all in the system today (Soc to come), but we will over the course of the week. As of now, we have Malabrigo Rios, and Rasta all set as well as Malabrigo's new yarn, Torzal. SO much beautiful yarn! We love it.

Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl

Thank you all SO much for showing your love of local yarn stores by participating in the Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl! There were 179 finishers, and we saw so many regulars as well as so many new faces. We appreciate you all! I think we had 16 people actually finish their journey at The Loopy Ewe, but we'd like to celebrate each and every one of the 179 who made it to all 8 stores. AND thanks to those who didn't get to them all, but
who shared some love with us or their own local yarn shop.
Congrats to August who won our grand prize basket and to Hana who won our $50 store credit! Congrats also to Lauren, Naomi, Carol, Sonya, Rebecca, Kathleen, Jennifer and Jody who also won door prizes! We'll be contacting you if we haven't already to let you know how to get your prize!
For those of you who missed out on mini skeins, I've been keeping a list of those interested in completing the set so that I can contact you in a few months when we can reorder or direct you to MakerWool to get them! They are so extremely pretty.

So many projects came in this week. It was glorious! Marge brought in three projects - a Sockhead Slouch Hat (Kelly McClure) she made using Gusto Wool Carmen, a Boyfriend Hat by Purl Soho she knit using Rowan Felted Tweed, AND the Canary Yellow Leg Warmers by chloelovesowls using Cascade 220. So great!
Jennifer brought in her GORGEOUS Forager Lite Sweater by Isabell Kraemer. She made hers using The Uncommon Thread Corriedale, and it is beautiful. I mean. So, so beautiful.
Fran brought in her ribbon winning Ann Budd Sweater knit using Malabrigo Sock and it's amazing - ribbon worthy for sure. Her stitches are SO EVEN and nice! Lovely!
Robin brought in an amazing color work sweater she made using Jamieson and Smith 2 Ply Jumper Weight. She made this pattern up, if you can believe it, and steeked the front, neck and arms. Such talent!
Mary Kay made this beautiful Myrkwood scarf by Lanja Khon-Engheim - a lovely lace sampler. She used JulieSpins Alpaca Silk Cashmere. She did a fantastic job with an amazing yarn!
Loopy Kudos to you all!

I am deep in the garden with my Carrot Patch Sweater by Svetlana Gibadullina. It's one of those projects that just makes me happy every time I pick it up. Despite 3-color rows. Despite and holding yarn double and juggling 6 skeins on said 3-color rows. Despite the inherent sticky-ness of alpaca silk and mohair silk. Despite it not being a very portable project. It's a glorious adventure. From my table.
I'm using The Uncommon Thread Corriedale held together with The Uncommon Thread Divine Lace (or Urth Yarns Bonmoher for the carrots), and it's so soft and squishy. And seriously, I don't know what I can say about anyone who doesn't just adore these cute carrots . . It's so good.
I knit a few rows on my cowl with the mini skeins available for the Hot August Knits Yarn Crawl. Thank you MakerWool for bringing the sweet 16 HAK colors to life. The pattern I am using is The Simply Scrappy Cowl by Helen Stewart.
Have an excellent and creative week! Kristine & the Loopy Ewe Crew
