This weekend I was with my sister and brother in law at my Dad's house in Michigan. We completed several tasks to help him around the house. It wasn't terribly relaxing, but it was definitely good to spend time with family. I really appreciated the pretty sunflowers in my dad's garden. I stumbled across some turkeys on my morning walk. AND, most surprising of all, I was reacquainted with my old friend
Snapper, who my dad has had since I was in high school mowing the lawn WAY back then. How does this machine still run!???
Well I've been told that I'm not one to let things be easy, so what did I do? I volunteered to foster 2 older (4 month old) puppies starting today (Tuesday morning). These two pups are trouble of the best sort. They're about 4 months old and so full of energy! They'll be available to adopt this Saturday at Colorado Puppy Rescue (we have Delta and Bear if you are looking for more information on the site)!

Cascade Ecological Wool Now Here!
|
I finally took Shannon at Cascade's recommendation to bring this yarn in, and now we have Cascade Yarn's Ecological Wool. She was so right! I'm already envisioning a number of sweaters for this one. . . This yarn is available in 21 undyed shades (we have 14 of them in now). This yarn is an eco-friendly Wool that has beautiful stitch definition. It comes in 250g (478 yard) skeins, so it's great for those larger projects. It's a bit rustic, but is great for
warm, cozy garments and felted projects. It isn't merino soft (ahem, it isn't merino), but it certainly isn't scratchy either! The details? It's 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, and has a recommend needle size of US9-10 (5.5 - 6.0 mm) or hook size of K-L (6.5 -8.0 mm). I'm so excited to work with this one.

OK. For those of you in the area, we are planning to meet this Sunday, September 13, 1-3 pm if you are around and available! I'll be starting slippers, but bring what you are working on if you don't want to make slippers, and we'll discuss the next knit along together! Remember how much fun the Stash Dive raglans were? 👇👇👇

Sandy stopped by to show me some pretty Alaska hats by Camille Descoteaux (not yarn we carry) and a lovely Leaf Wrap by Bobbi InteVeld (Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light) that she made. She added in Moose for one ofthe hats using a Doodle Deck from Pacific Knit Co. I thought that was really clever and super cute. 😁. It's fun to see how you can incorporate Doodle Deck designs in all sorts of ways!
Loopy Kudos Sandy!

My Carrot Patch Sweater by Svetlana Gibadullina remained in time out this past week, as I took a trip to visit my parents, and couldn't travel with such a big project (hello personal item only!). I will definitely get back to it - I love it too much to abandon it! I did get my first attempt on a sleeve frogged, but I haven't picked up stitches again. I'm still mulling over
the right number of stitches to pick up. I'm using The Uncommon Thread Corriedale held together with The Uncommon Thread Divine Lace (or Urth Yarns Bonmoher for the carrots). It will be a very warm and lovely soft sweater.
Before I left, I had picked up and knit a bit on my Klein Pause blanket by Susanne Shahin. I'll just plug away on that one until it's done! It's being made with Sirdar Jewelspun Aran.
The upside of the trip is that I got one sock of a pair knit up. Someone already claimed this pair as theirs. Looks like I'll be shipping it out once I finish the second one! I knit this up with one of Little Squirrel Yarn's Sock Sets from almost a year ago. It's knitting up well in this I Heart Harvest Sock pattern by Shelley Stone.
Have an excellent and creative week! Kristine & the Loopy Ewe Crew
