What's New at The Loopy Ewe?

I am not going to lie. This past week has been exhausting. As you know, we had two bottle baby puppies, which always means less sleep. This time was even harder, as one failed to thrive. After extra efforts to nourish this baby, emergency vet visits, and a devastating diagnosis of something we could not overcome, we had to say goodbye to this sweet baby. My heart is broken. We still have his brother, Shellington, who is doing great BUT puppies need
socialization to learn how to grow up to be well-adapted dogs. Originally we were going to have him join his siblings at another foster's home, but it looks like we may be hosting his siblings instead. It's been an emotional rollercoaster for sure.
Sorry for the heavy introduction to this week's newsletter. I do try to stay positive, but I know some of you follow along on the puppy journey, and would notice that we were missing one. π’.
We do have some very good shop updates too. AND I got to see this cool (I think) Cooper's Hawk on a walk through the neighborhood. AND Bob bought some beautiful mums to cheer up our front yard. Check out what's new! ππππ

New Blue Sky Fibers Yarn!
|
We've had this yarn waiting to post for a bit, and now it's photographed and ready to share! Blue Sky Fibers came out with beautiful new colors of Woolstok Tweed (gorgeous!!) AND launched Woolstok Tweed Light, which pairs well with regular Woolstok Light. They have some really pretty patterns to support these on their website HERE. I am looking at making the Timeless Tweed Hat by Michael Vloedman. It only takes a single skein, and I'm thinking it would be a great way to give it a test run!
I'f you've loved the look of the regular Woolstok Tweed, but can't manage the heavier weight in a garment, you might want to try this! It's lovely. If you're up for a fun tweedy garment, Sarah pointed out the Winter Lamb sweater by Ashly Weeks Cart, which uses an Aran weight. It was inspired by the movie Sheep Detective. So cozy looking!
We also restocked the Woolstok Worsted - if you've been waiting for a color, now's a great time to get it! OK. There were a few backordered colors, but. . . Most colors are well-stocked!

We restocked our Sirdar Jewelspun Aran and Jewelspun Chunky with Wool. These have been very popular. With such fun colors, I am not surprised. We don't even have the Aran on out of the packaging yet, but we'll get that done today!
These are some of the only acrylic yarns we have in the store. Historically, I have not been a huge fan of acrylics, but this is definitely a nice one. It's great to use for gifts, baby items, and anything you need to be washable! I'm making my Meals on Wheels blanket with this one, as it'll be pretty, functional and easy care!

Reminder - Winter Solstice Boxes!
|
We'll be closing the Winter Solstice Box purchases on October 31, or once we reach our limit (we currently have 29 still available). These will ship out the first week of December. I'm using photos of the fall box to give you an idea of how the boxes look when they come. The winter box will be, of course, a winter theme. It's been so fun to put these together!
We can't wait to get this next one out!

My Carrot Patch Sweater by Svetlana Gibadullina spent another week in time out. I am at the point where I feel ready to tackle this again, though, so expect an update next week! It's made using The Uncommon Thread Corriedale held together with The Uncommon Thread Divine Lace (or Urth Yarns Bonmoher for the carrots). It's scrumptious.
My Klein Pause blanket by Susanne Shahin got some love at Sit & Knit this past week, so it's a bit farther along! It's being made with Sirdar Jewelspun Aran. Slow going, but getting there!
I finished both slippers, and they are ready for felting on Sunday! The pattern is Felted Clogs by Bev Galeskas (Fiber Trends). I used Cascade 220 in fun Mardi Gras colors. I feel like the second one looks more festive, but Bob will like them both. Or else. (haha!)
I was going to try to get a second pair of slippers (Sailor Slippers by Annie Germaine), but using the big needles started to hurt my hands, so I'm going to give it a small break before I tackle them.
Have an excellent and creative week! Kristine & the Loopy Ewe Crew
