I had such a good time learning Mahjong through a fundraiser for A Little Help - a fantastic organization helping older adults connect with volunteers willing to help them with tasks around their home. Thanks go to Pam for bringing the event to my attention, to Blair for being so encouraging about Mahjong, and to Linda for going with me! What did I discover? This is NOT a simple game, but I think I'm going to love it once I start to figure out the strategy
a bit better. I did finally get my tiles to complete a Mahjong - yay!
We've had a fun week watching puppies grow up. They change so fast, and right now they are so feisty and fun. There is nothing like a 6 week old puppy. I think these will grow up to be fantastic dogs. Seriously, someone I know needs to adopt these. They are so good, and I need visitation rights.
And. . . it's that halloween time of year! 🦇🎃👻 We took a trip to the pumpkin patch and got some beauties. Luca, of course, came at us with a 27 pounder. That's a lot of pumpkin! We'll be carving next weekend. He gets to scoop out his seeds himself 🤣. I hope your October autumn season is bringing lots of fall fun too!

We received what might be our penultimate restock from The Uncommon Thread Yarn. Ce is stepping away from the business. We're hopeful that someone can step in and continue operations. The Uncommon Thread dyes many of my very favorite yarns. We WILL be getting more Linum only in November. For now, we restocked:
Divine Lace - A snuggly-soft combination of baby alpaca, silk, and cashmere, Divine Lace makes gorgeous, fluffy lace weight shawls on its own, or can play well when held with another yarn to add dreamy softness and just a hint of halo. A super soft alternative to mohair silk blends.
Cocoon - Cocoon is a cozy, snuggly yarn with plenty of halo and character. A luscious blend of 70% silk and 30% extra fine merino, the unique texture can be combined with other yarns, or it creates a soft, fuzzy fabric all on its own! The yarn has fingering weight yardage, but you'll find it appropriate for many sport weight projects as
well, as all that fluffy goodness fills in a lot of space.
Highland Sport - This woolly wool is full of rustic, crunchy, woolly charm! A crossbreed of Merino and Corriedale, Highland wool is springy and well-suited to colorwork projects. A lovely non-superwash option that offers lightweight warmth.
Alpaca Sock - This velvety blend of merino, alpaca, and nylon will become your next obsession. As alpaca fiber is touted for its insulating properties, this yarn will make your project extra toasty and perfect for socks, cowls, mitts, hats, and sweaters! Alpaca Sock offers excellent stitch definition, a hint of sheen, and the lightest of
halos. Corriedale - This base is a 2-ply, non-superwash, fingering weight. It is spun in the UK in small quantities, Corriedale wool is both resilient and lustrous. It is slightly more rustic than merino or BFL, and full of character. Soft enough to be worn next to the skin, Corriedale is lovely for so many items: sweaters, hats, mitts, or
shawls!

We've restocked Lumos&Lumos lights - with some fun new colors! These are the lights we love for knitting in dim light, while camping, anywhere you need a little (or a lot) of extra light to help you see. Working on dark yarn? No problem!
We also brought in the Lumos&Lumos super cute and functional Bag Lights. These are great for helping find things those disappeared items in the bottom of your project bag or purse. You know what I mean, right? It's dark in there! You can get them with a red or blue chain, and they connect with a clip to any bag. Each comes with its own charging cord - yay for rechargeable!

We are participating in Malabrigo Day this year! On Saturday, 24 October, we'll have extra fun things happening at the store. There will be some free patterns, discounts on Malabrigo’s patterns on Ravelry, fun activities, the opportunity to feel ALL of Malabrigo's yarn bases (and the possibility to special order them - conditions apply). We'd love to include our online folks. We'll send pattern discount codes and free patterns when you order Malabrigo yarns on Friday - Sunday. AND, if you have been interested in a specific base, reach out and we'll see if we can't get a special order in for you as well.
Malabrigo will also celebrate on Instagram with two raffles: #MalabrigoDay: Share a photo or video from your shop’s celebration, tag @malabrigoyarn, and add #MalabrigoDay to enter.
#MalabrigoFit: Wear or bring your completed or in progress Malabrigo project, snap a photo at the celebration, tag @malabrigoyarn, and add #MalabrigoFit to enter.
If you enter either of the above and tag @theloopyewe and add #theloopyewe. we'll enter you in a drawing for a $50 store credit as well!

Reminder - Winter Solstice Boxes!
|
The Winter Solstice Box pre-order closes October 31, or once we reach our limit. Honestly, I can't believe we haven't had to close sales already. I did an unboxing video of the Fall Equinox box. Check it out here if you're curious what might come in a box like this!

Another week, another hold on my Carrot Patch Sweater by Svetlana Gibadullina The Uncommon Thread Corriedale held together with The Uncommon Thread Divine Lace (or Urth Yarns Bonmoher for the carrots). I promise, progress coming soon.
Klein Pause blanket by Susanne Shahin is being worked at every Sit & Knit & knit night, so it's moving forward, but slowly. I'm using Sirdar Jewelspun Aran.
I progressed only a very tiny bit on my Kitties on my Lap Blanket by Magda Stryk Therrien using CamaRose Yaku. It's so satisfying to finish each kitty face!
I also slipped in a second Blue Wave Secret Message Hat by Lake and Prairie Knits because a friend from high school requested my first one. My secret message on the second one was 'I Choose Love' because I had extra stitches since I used DK weight yarn. I used scraps of MakerWool DK I had at home. It only took less than a half skein of each!
Have an excellent and creative week! Kristine & the Loopy Ewe Crew
